All of us at Freedom Festival are looking forward to a time when we can once again come together to celebrate our great city of Hull, with incredible artists, beautiful artwork and exciting and thought-provoking performances which help us see the world in new ways.
It is too early to say when in 2021 this will be possible. We expect to deliver a festival of great art and performance later this year, probably in the summer as we have done previously. However, we can’t yet say when this will happen, as there are too many uncertainties. The health of our city and residents remains our primary consideration in any decisions we make.
In March, we will announce our plans for the rest of the year and beyond which will include when and how we can deliver our festival and other artistic work.
We can’t wait to return to the streets of Hull, theatres and other spaces to enjoy fantastic performances safely.
If you want to be the first to hear about our plans for this year’s festival, sign up to our newsletter or follow us on social media.
The Hull Vigil
We do know that we will deliver the incredible and timely The Hull Vigil, a year-long artistic event which enables the citizens of Hull to spend an hour each day watching over the city from a shelter on the top of Hull College at dawn and dusk. If you would like to take part in this performance you will be able to sign up from 1 March 2021 at www.thehullvigil.com. Simply head to the bookings page and you will see a 12-month calendar where you can choose the date you would like to take part.
Because of the nature of this project, it can still be delivered despite restrictions, (except total lockdown). We know it may seem strange to sign up to something which you can’t yet do, but by the time the project starts in May we expect that some restrictions will have been lifted which will enable the project to happen.
